2. Information We Collect

We collect information in three main ways: you give it to us while signing up for the newsletter or contact forms, we collect it automatically when you use the Sites, and we receive it in the course of providing fisheries services.

Information you provide

This includes information submitted through contact forms, newsletter signups, emails, phone calls, texts, or in-person conversations, such as:

  • Name, email address, phone number, and mailing or property address

  • The state or region where your pond or lake is located

  • Details about your waterbody, goals, or requested services (for example stocking, aeration, habitat, water quality, surveys, or a new pond)

  • Messages, photos, maps, or documents you send us

  • Billing and payment information when you pay for services

  • Any other information you choose to share

Information collected automatically

When you visit the Sites, our platforms and tools may collect:

  • Device, browser, and operating system information

  • IP address and general location derived from it

  • Pages viewed, links clicked, referring site, and date and time of visit

  • Form views and form submissions

  • Cookie and tracking identifiers used by Squarespace, HubSpot, and similar tools

Information from client work

If you become a client, we may also hold business records needed to manage your fishery. That can include property descriptions, lake or pond measurements, water chemistry results, electrofishing and survey data, stocking records, habitat plans, photos from site visits, invoices, and related correspondence. We treat that information as confidential business information and use it to serve you.

3. How We Use Information

We use personal information to:

  • Respond to consultation requests and service inquiries

  • Schedule site visits and communicate about your pond or lake

  • Provide fisheries management, stocking, testing, habitat, aeration, and related services

  • Send newsletters or educational updates you requested

  • Operate, secure, and improve the Sites

  • Understand which pages and forms people use

  • Process payments and keep business records

  • Comply with law and protect our rights, clients, and property

We do not sell your personal information.

4. Forms, Email, and HubSpot

We use a CRM to organize contacts, form submissions, and related communications. If you submit a consultation form or join the newsletter, that information may be stored in our CRM or website host platform.

You can unsubscribe from marketing emails using the link in those emails, or by contacting us. We may still send transactional messages about a service you requested, an appointment, or an existing project.

5. Cookies and Similar Technologies

The Sites may use cookies and similar technologies to keep the website working, remember preferences, measure traffic, and understand how visitors use forms and pages.

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Blocking cookies may affect how some parts of the Sites work. Our cookie banner, where shown, lets you accept or manage non-essential cookies.

We currently use these tools to run the website, for advertising our services, and manage inquiries.

6. When We Share Information

We share information only as needed to operate the business:

  • Service providers that host or support the Sites and our operations, including Web Host and CRM

  • Payment processors, if you pay us electronically

  • Contractors, biologists, or vendors working on your project when they need the information to do the work

  • Professional advisors such as accountants or attorneys

  • Authorities when required by law, court order, or to protect safety and legal rights

  • A successor if the business is sold or reorganized

  • Advertising Information for BWO Fisheries Science

We do not share client lists or pond details for unrelated marketing by other companies.

7. How Long We Keep Information

We keep contact and inquiry records as long as needed to respond to you and to run the business. Client project files, survey data, and billing records are kept for as long as they remain useful for managing the fishery or as required for tax, legal, or professional recordkeeping. We delete or de-identify information when we no longer have a reason to keep it.

8. How We Protect Information

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards appropriate for a professional services business. No website or email system is completely secure. Please avoid sending highly sensitive information through an unsecured form if a phone call or a direct conversation with your biologist is a better fit.

9. Children’s Privacy

The Sites are intended for adults considering pond and lake management services. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has submitted information to us, contact us and we will delete it.

10. Your Choices and Rights

You may ask us to:

  • Correct inaccurate contact information

  • Remove you from the newsletter

  • Provide a copy of the personal information we have about you, subject to legal limits

  • Delete personal information we do not need to keep for an active project, billing, or legal reason

Depending on the state where you live, you may have additional rights under state privacy law, such as the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to request deletion, and the right to opt out of certain sharing. We do not sell personal information. To make a request, email brian@bluewingoutdoors.com or katie@bluewingoutdoors.com. We may need to verify your identity before completing the request.

11. Third-Party Links and Embedded Content

The Sites may link to YouTube, social media, maps, or other third-party pages. Those sites have their own privacy practices. We are not responsible for content or data practices on pages we do not control.

12. International Visitors

We are based in the United States and our systems are hosted in the United States. If you contact us from another country, your information will be processed in the United States.
